Sri Sadhu Subramanya Shastri has empowered the world with the glory of lord Venkateswara and an asset with hundreds of crores of Hindus spread across the globe said Tirupati MLA Sri Bhumana Karunakar Reddy.
Participating as chief guest in the 133rd Jayanti celebrations of eminent epigraphist of Tirumala, Sri Sadhu Subramanya Shastri at SVETA in Tirupati on Saturday he recalled the contributions of Sri Shastri.
Earlier all dignitaries garlanded the life-size bronze statue of Sri Sadhu Subramanya Shastri in front of SVETA Bhavan.
Tirupati MLA said that it was his findings in the inscriptions in Srivari temple that Sri Bhoga Srinivasa murthy idol was donated by Pallava Queen Samavai.
Though a small-time employee of TTD he had brought out thousands of inscriptions in Tirumala. "It was my good fortune that I was acquainted with such a great personality during school days, said Karunakar Reddy.
He said when he was the TTD Chairman with the blessings of Sri Venkateswara Swamy that he had undertaken the installations of the statues of eminent persons like Sri Sadhu Subramanya Shastri, Sri Veturi Prabhakar Shastri, Sri Rallapalli Anantakrishna Sharma in the pilgrim city to motivate people to take lessons from their life stories.
He said every devotee of Sri Venkateswara should read the compilation of inscriptions by Sri Subramanya Shastri.
Among others, TTD board member Sri P Ashok, daughter of Sri Shastri; Smt Girija, grand son and Kadapa additional district sessions judge Sri CS Murthy, SVETA Director Prashanti, Epigraphist Sri Krishna Reddy, TTD CAuO Sri Sesha Shailendra, DEO Sri Bhaskar Reddy, Retd director general of Doordarshan Sri Ananta Padmanabha Rao, Prof.Chandramouli of Puducherry University, SV Museum OSD Sri Krishna Reddy, SV oriental college Prof.Sri Venkateshwarlu were present.
On the occasion of the Shastri Jayanti celebrations, TTD published the book Saraswata Samvikshanam was unveiled by Sri Karunakar Reddy.
