Annamacharya Was Multifaceted - Scholars

The Saint Poet Sri Tallapaka Annamacharya was a multi talented persona with incredible expertise and knowledge in Music, Literature, Dialects and Devotional fields, which his Telugu Padakavita Pitamaha-the Great Grand father of Telugu Poetry, said Sri Madhusudhan, Veteran journalist from Hyderabad.

Speaking on the occasion of the 615th Jayanti literary fete arranged at Annamacharya Kalamandiram in Tirupati on Thursday, he said Annamaiah penned Sankeertans keeping in view the common man. Among various formats of Sankeertans written by Annamaiah, the Janapada - Folklore style notes have become most popular in the society and still fresh even after five centuries, he added.

Sri Venkata Ramakrishna Shastry from Central Univesity of Hyderabad, Dr Syamalanada Prasad from Vijayawada also spoke on the occasion.

Later in the evening at 6pm Smt Annapurna and team rendered Annamacharya Sankeertans in a melodious manner followed by Harikatha by Sri Durgaprasad and team which allured the audience.

Annamacharya Project Director Dr Vibhishana Sharma was also present.
