AnnamaiAH Sankeertans Taught Devotion - Scholars







The tens of thousands of Sankeertans penned by Saint Poet Sri Tallapaka Annamacharya taught the significance of spirituality to the society during his time, said renowned scholar Prof.Kattamanchi Mahalakshmi.


Presiding the literary session held at Annamachaya Kalamandiram in Tirupati on the occasion of 615th Jayanti fete of Sri Tallapaka Annamacharya, the retired professor from SV University said, the Padakavita Pitamaha not only preached the importance of spirituality but taught the society the significance of Equality through his one of the famous notes, "Tandanana Aahi...Andariki Srihare Antaratma"...


Dr D Ramakrishna of Vijayawada speaking on the occasion highlighted the Sanskrit Sankeertans penned by the Saint Poet. "Of his 32000 Sankeertans, about 90 were in Sanskrit", he maintained. While renowned writer Sri Basava Sankara Rao from Hyderabad said the Annamaiah Sankeertans reflected the various grammar styles of Telugu literature.


Later in the evening, Annamacharya Project Senior artist Sri Madhusudhan Rao and his team will render a few sankeertans followed by the Harikatha Parayanam by Smt Munilakshmi and team.


Project Director Sri Vibhishana Sharma, devotees were also present.
