The Parade Grounds of the TTD Administration Building in Tirupati on Thursday resounded with chanting of Veda Mantras as the celestial week long Chaturveda Havanam organised seeking global harmony commenced on a grand religious note in the temple city.
The Rutwiks performed Kalasa Sthapana, and Kalasa Avahana followed by Yajamani Sankalpa, Ganapati Puja and Agni Pratista rituals.
As 32 Rutwiks chanted vedic mantras from all four Vedas, TTD EO Sri AV Dharma Reddy and JEO for Health and Education Smt Sada Bhargavi offered Sankalpam at the program.
Later speaking to the media the EO said the seven-day sacred Havanam is being organised by TTD for the first time in the temple city for the well being of the society which will conclude on July 5.
He said Rutwiks will chant shlokas from all four Vedas till 1 pm and later devotional program like discourses, bhakti sangeet will be held in the evening everyday.
Program Co-ordinator Aacharya C Sriram Sharma said upon the guidelines given by Kanchi Pontiff all mantras from four Vedas will be recited daily to invoke blessings of all the deities.
HDPP Secretary Dr Srinivasulu, Special Officer of SVIHVS Dr A Vibhishan Sharma were also present.
