Bagh Savari Festival Observed

The unique festival of Bhag Savari which is observed on an immediate day after the conclusion of the nine-day annual Brahmotsavams in Tirumala, was observed with religious pomp and gaiety on Wednesday evening.

According to the temple legend, Sri Venkateswara and His Consort, in the guise of ordinary humans, destroy the flower gardens grown up by Ananthalwar, a great devotee of the Lord, only to testify to his dedicated devotion.

In a bid to catch-hold of the divine couple who are in the guise of humans,  Ananthalwar succeeds in tying up the Goddess to an Aswatha tree in his garden while the Lord manages to escape from his clutches running anti-clockwise.

Later, Ananthalwar realises his mistake and carries the Goddess in a floral basket to the Srivari temple and rejoins Her with the Lord.

Impressed by the great devotion of His ardent devotee, Srivaru blesses Him that He would visit Anantalwar Gardens the next day after annual fete on a reverse path before entering the Sanctum Sanctorum.

Since then this festival is being observed with great spiritual fervour in Tirumala on this day every year.

Both the pontiffs of Tirumala, Peishkar Sri Srihari, Parupattedar Sri Tulasiprasad and others were present.
