Garuda Vahana Seva Held with Utmost Religious Fervour

All roads, vehicles, led to Tirumala on Friday with scores of devotees thronging the Hill town to catch a glimpse of Sri Malayappa Swamy, the processional deity of Sri Venkateswara on the mighty Garuda Vahana, on the fifth day evening of the ongoing annual Brahmotsavams.

Considered as the most significant of all events in the nine day festival, Garuda Vahana Seva attracts huge crowds and TTD anticipated over 2 lakh devotees to reach Tirumala for the event.

Legends say that Garuda, the King of Aves and favourite charioteer of Sri Mahavishnu(Sri Venkateswara) considered the most respected and most sought after follower of His Master. The darshan of Srivaru on Garuda vahanam is strongly believed to be very auspicious, which fulfils the desires of all His devotees.

The procession of Garuda Vahanam took off to a ceremonial start amid chanting of ‘Garuda Vahana Govinda Govinda’ by the devotees, who had assembled several hours in advance in the galleries of the four mada streets. To enable Garuda Vahana seva to more devotees, TTD has first time introduced allowing pilgrims waiting outside from Supatham, Karnataka Choultries, Andavan Mutt, Krishna Teja Point, Vyasaraja mutt, Andavan mutt, Marketing Godown, Annaprasadam and Parakamani side gates.

The TTD Chairman Sri Bhumana Karunakar Reddy, TTD EO Sri AV Dharma Reddy, a few board members and others were present.
