Splendour Marked Rathotsavam

On the penultimate day of the nine-day  Srivari annual Brahmotsavam on a bright sunny Monday morning, the procession of a mammoth wooden chariot was observed with religious fervour in Tirumala.

The devotees pulled the giant Ratham with spiritual ecstasy chanting of ‘Govinda' ‘Govinda' along four mada streets.

After the special rituals such as ‘Punyavachanam' and ‘Navagraha dhyanam,' the processional deities of Sri Malayappa and His two divine consorts were ceremoniously mounted atop the wooden chariot amidst chanting of Vedic hymns by the temple pundits.

Tens of thousands of devotees participated in the divine procession that began at 6:55am and continued till 9am.

The chariot glided majestically on the mada streets preceded by the royal entourage of caparisoned elephants, horses, bulls, cultural and bhajan troupes besides a contingent of Vedic Pundits led by Jeeyars and the priests of the temple.

The TTD Chairman Sri Bhumana Karunakara Reddy, TTD EO Sri AV Dharma Reddy and others were present.
