The TTD Chairman Sri Bhumana Karunakara Reddy gave a clarion call towards popularising Annamacharya Sankeertans in a big way which crusaded against the caste barriers in society for almost six centuries ago.
He was participating as Chief Guest in the book release function of Sri Venkatesa Padamulu jointly published by TTD’s HDPP and Shanta Vasantha Trust, Hyderabad at Mahati Auditorium in Tirupati on Wednesday morning.
Speaking on the occasion, the TTD Chairman said Saint Poet Annamacharya who struggled against social injustices has penned the glory of Sri Venkateswara in a simple language whose 600th Jayanti was celebrated during his first stint as chairman at Tallapaka village in a majestic way. A 108 feet statue was installed on the occasion. He said the TTD through its Annamacharya project is striving to take the Sankeertans to the doorsteps of people through various spiritual programmes.
He said it is heartening to note that Dr Varaprasad Reddy, a legend in biotechnology has ventured into the social and devotional spectrum by bringing out this compilation of Annamacharya Sankeertans.
TTD chairman said the TTD would reprint 25,000 copies of the present book on Annamaiah and distribute them to students to inspire them. TTD EO Sri AV Dharma Reddy said so far TTD has completed publishing 1000 Sankeertans with commentary and an action plan is underway to complete others. He lauded Dr Varaprasad Reddy for collecting the Annamaiah Sankeertans lying at Thanjavur library and publishing them.
On behalf of Dr Varaprasad Reddy, TTD Chairman felicitated Book reviewer Sri Veturi Anandamurthy, SVBC Chairman Sri Sai Krishna Yachendra, TTD Asthana Vidhwan Dr Balakrishna Parsad with a gold bracelet and shawl.
JEO for Health and Education Smt Sada Bhargavi, Annamacharya Project Director Sri Vibhishana Sharma and others were also present.
