The three-day South Indian music and dance festival under the auspices of Sri Venkateswara College of Music and Dance, SV Nadaswaram, Dolu School in the name of Kalavaibhavam commenced on Wednesday at Mahathi Kalamandiram in Tirupati.
As part of this, the vocal music, instrumental music, Kuchipudi, Bharatanatyam and Kathakali dance programs performed by artists of different states on the first day were very impressive.
The Kathakali performance of Lavanasura Vadham by Trissur students, Nadaswaram by Chidambaram students, Bharatnatyam by Chennai students, Kuchipudi by Tirupati students, a vocal concert by Hyderabad students on first day captivated the audience.
Many lectures were also delivered on the occasion by Research scholars.
Former and present faculty of SV College of Music and Dance including Sri Komaduru Seshadri, Smt A Prabhavati, Smt Challa Prabhavati, Sri Somayajulu, Sri Jagannadaiah, Smt Jumunarani, Smt Padmavati, Kum. Bhramaramba, Sri Sudhakar, Sri Devendra Pillai, Sri Bhaskar were felicitated for their contributions to the development of SVCMD.
National Sanskrit University VC Prof. Krishnamurthy, faculty of SVCMD, Nadaswaram, Dolu were also present.
