Samprokshana Performed

Special pujas were performed for the ceremonial idols of Sri Sita Lakshmana Sameta Sri Ramachandra Murthy at the Tirumala temple on Wednesday morning.

Going into the details, in the year 2021, a minor fracture was identified in the middle finger of the left hand in the Utsava idol of Sri Rama. At that time, the fracture that had formed was repaired by covering this finger with a golden shield.

Usually, when such small fractures occur in the ceremonial idols, it is customary to repair them during the Maha Samprokshana program that is being held once in 12 years.

However, the Maha Samprokshana program was organized by TTD in 2018. The next Maha Samprokshana program will be held in 2030.

Since there are more than five years left, a committee consisting of Jeeyar Swamijis, Agama advisors and priests recently brought it to the attention of the present TTD higher authorities during the recent annual Brahmotsavams in Tirumala and the authorities inturn requested the committee members to organise a Samprokshana program.

Following the dates as decided by the committee, the current TTD management has also agreed to organize the Sri Rama ''Anguli Sandhana Samprokshana''  program in Tirumala temple on Tuesdays and Wednesdays to correct minor fractions.

As a part of the rituals held at Sampangi Prakaram inside the temple initially on Tuesday night Kalapakarshana, Bimba Vastu, Mahashanti Tirumanjanam, Sayanadhivasam were performed as per the tenets of Vaikhanasa Agama.

Later on Wednesday morning, special homam followed by Purnahuti and Kalavahanam were performed.

In the presence of Tirumala Pontiffs, the Chief Priests of Tirumala including Sri Venugopala Deekshitulu, Sri Krishna Seshachala Deekshitulu and Sri Govindaraja Deekshitulu performed the rituals amidst chanting of relevant Mantras by the Vedic Pundits.

TTD Additional EO Sri Venkaiah Chowdary and other temple officials and staff were present.

Meanwhile, following the advent of Punarvasu Star, these Utsava deities will bless devotees during Sahara Deepalankara Sevas on Wednesday evening.
