Koil Alwar Tirumanjanam on 01st April at Vontimitta




The traditional temple cleansing fete, Koil Alwar Tirumanjanam, will be observed at Sri Kodandarama temple at Vontimitta in YSR Kadapa district, on April 01 in view of the annual Brahmotsavams from April 05-15.


Meaning:

'Koil' means the temple,'Alwar' means the devotee and 'Tirumanjanam' means divine cleansing activity.

Koil Alwar Tirumanjanam is a Agama ritual which means cleaning of the temple premises by the devotees.

Significance:

During this ritual, an aromatic mixture called "Parimalam" is smeared all along walls, roofs of the main temple, sub-temples, puja utensils.

This unique mixture is an amalgamation of Srichurnam, Namakopu, Vermilion, Turmeric, A tuber vegetable called Kichchili Gadda that provides a cooling and soothing effect.

Vontimitta by TTD: 

In the year 2015 on September 09, TTD took over this ancient temple from the AP Endowments department. Since then TTD has been organizing the annual fete as  ''Srirama Navami'' Brahmotsavams which commences with Dhwajarohanam on the auspicious day of Sri Rama Navami in a grand manner.  The celestial wedding ceremony, Sri Sita Rama Kalyanam which is observed as a State Festival, also performed in a big way.

This year also TTD is making elaborate arrangements for this mega religious festival.
