The life of Babu Jagjivan Ram, one of the great personalities in Indian national movement and rendered special services as a Union Minister post independence, is inspiring to many, said Dr. Ram Prasad, Principal, College of Law, Osmania University, Hyderabad.
The 118th birth anniversary celebrations of Babu Jagjivan Ram was observed at the Mahathi Auditorium in Tirupati on Saturday.
Speaking as the chief guest of the program, Sri Ram Prasad described Babu Jagjivan Ram, who was born in Chandwa village in Bihar in the year 1908, as a great humanitarian.
He said that he endeavoured for the upliftment of the downtrodden communities and studied hard to become a social reformer and politician.
He also said that Babu Jagjivan Ram had effectively managed the Labor, Agriculture and Defense departments at the Center and had rendered invaluable services to the country as the Deputy Prime Minister.
He advised the employees to learn about the good deeds done by such leaders through the Jayanti Sabhas and get inspiration to follow that path.
Another keynote speaker, Dr. Venkatasubbaiah, Assistant Professor of Badvelu S. BVR College, delivered a speech and urged to to constantly get inspired by the life style of Sri Babu Jagjivan Ram.
Later, former Minister Sri Parasaratnam said that Sri Jagjivanram was an unsung hero who had rendered special service to everyone without any discrimination in his 52-year political career. He said that he has held many ministerial posts in his political career and when he was the Union Agriculture Minister he brought about the Green Revolution in the country and increased the yield.
DLO Sri Varaprasada Rao said that Sri Jagjivan Ram worked hard to achieve reservations for Dalits. He said that he worked hard for the advancement of the women.
Earlier, TTD officials and employees performed pujas to the portrait of Srivaru and paid floral tributes to the portrait of Sri Babu Jagjivan Ram.
On this occasion, mementos were presented to the employees who rendered special services, and won prizes in the competitions of essay writing and quiz.
TTD Welfare Department Deputy EO Sri Anandaraju, SC Cell Liaison Officer Sri Devendra Babu, other dignitaries and a large number of TTD employees participated in this program.
