The Pushpayaga Mahotsavam was held in Ontimitta Sri Kodandarama Swamy Temple on Tuesday evening with great religious pomp and gaiety.
The Pushpayagam began with utmost spiritual fervour and leaves like Tulsi, Mogali, besides flowers including jasmine, rose, gunneru, sampangi, and other flowers were offered to the the utsava deities of Sri Sita Lakshmana sameta Sri Ramachandra Murty.
Around 2.5 tons of flowers were donated from the states of Andhra, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka for this floral festival.
Pushpayagam is performed in Sri Vaishnavaite temples appeasing the deity to protect the devotees from natural disasters and calamities.
It is also considered as a sin free ritual, against any mistakes which occurred during the Brahmotsavams or in daily rituals without either knowingly or unknowingly by devotees, officers, archakas.
Temple Deputy EO Sri Natesh Babu, Garden Deputy Director Sri Srinivasulu, Superintendent Sri Hanumanthayya, Temple Inspector Sri Naveen, temple priests and a large number of devotees participated in this program.
