Mohini Avataram Casts Magic Spell on Devout

All galleries looked jam-packed on the fifth day morning of Thursday, as part of ongoing annual brahmotsavams in Tirumala, where Sri Malayappa Swamy mesmerised the devotees in His "Mohini" avatar in a tastefully decked palanquin accompanied by Sri Krishna Swamy on another Pallaki.

While all the other Vahana Sevas were carried by some divine flora and fauna as vehicles start from Vahana Mandapam, here the Lord pulls out Himself from the Srivari temple, gracefully, on a colourfully decorated palanquin, bejewelled, well dressed sporting a parrot in one hand, sitting majestically, charming devotees with His divine beauty.

According to legends, the Lord's appearance as bejewelled and charming Mohini throws the demons (Asura) in confusion and wins the celestial battle in favour of the deities (Devatas). The objective of the Mohini avatar is also to indicate that the entire universe is spellbound under the Mystic "Moha" and that the Lord of Tirumala is the kingpin or key architect of this celestial drama happening across the universe. The message is that devotees should come out of this "Maya" and lead a righteous, spiritual life.
